We stock an extensive range of sanding belt sizes, including popular dimensions like 2x72 sanding belts, 1x30 sanding belts, 4x36 sanding belts, and 3x21 sanding belts, with widths from ⅜” to 52” and lengths from 13” to 103”.
How to Measure Sanding Belts Length
Not sure what size sanding belt to order? If you have an existing belt, you can use that to measure for a comparison.
For an old/worn out belt you don’t plan on reusing, simply cut the belt and measure it from end to end.
If your only belt(s) is still in working condition, press the belt flat and measure it from end to end. Multiply that number by 2 and that is your sanding belt length.
Aluminum Oxide Belts:
Perfect for woodworking and fine finishing in metalworking applications with wet or dry sanding, aluminum oxide belts offer durability and come in dozens of specifications of both open and closed coat options. Available in grits from 24 to 7000 from durable Y-weight to ultra flexible F-weight.
Silicon Carbide Belts:
Ldeal for wet/dry sanding, silicon carbide belts have a sharp, uniform grain that excels in detailed work in stainless steel, non-ferrous metals, wood, solid surface, and plastics. Available in grits from 16 to 1000.
Zirconia Belts
These belts are suitable for metal surfaces and wet/dry sanding, featuring a closed coat and Y-weight backing, available in grits from 24 to 120.
Ceramic Belts:
Effective for heat-sensitive applications, ceramic belts are available in X-weight and J-weight with grits from 24 to 400.
Structured Grain Belts:
These belts come in X-weight and J-weight options, with finer grits from 600 to 2500 for high-precision finishing.
Our custom sanding belts come in a wide range of sizes to fit your machinery, with widths ranging from 1/8" to 54" and lengths from 5" to 700". We also offer custom abrasive rolls up to 100 meters. To optimize material usage, belts 6" wide or narrower are produced in multiples that use the full 12" width.
How to Use Aluminum Oxide Sanding Belts Effectively
Proper Installation:
Always ensure that the belt is installed correctly, with the arrow on the belt lining up with the direction of rotation of the sander. Running your belt in the wrong direction can snap the belt joint rendering your belt useless.
Correct Pressure:
Apply consistent, light pressure to avoid overheating the material and the belt.
Regular Maintenance:
Clean the belt regularly to extend its life and maintain its sanding efficiency. Use one of our abrasive belt cleaning sticks or compressed air to remove dust and debris.
